Local trails are one of the best things about living here, and they come with a short list of avoidable problems: dehydration, tick exposure, cut pads, wildlife encounters and overexertion in dogs who are fitter on paper than in practice.
Bring more water than you think you need, check paws and coat afterwards, and build distance gradually — particularly for young dogs still growing and for senior dogs.
If you find a tick, remove it promptly and keep an eye on the site. Call us if you are unsure or if your dog seems unwell afterwards.
